  • The appeal must be lodged within a specific timeframe after receiving the visa refusal notice. 
  • For short-stay visas, a new procedure as of 2023 requires the appeal to be lodged within 30 days​​. The appeal is now reviewed by the sub-director of visas at the General Directorate for Foreigners in France (Direction générale des étrangers en France, DGEF)
  • Appeals can be made directly by the applicant or through legal representation.
