How clients rate our Power of Attorney Service...
Advocate Abroad seeks client feedback to ensure continued high-quality service provision.
I reached out to Advocate Abroad to assist me with drawing up a power of attorney to retrieve my bag from the airport that I left on a plane I debarked in Turkey. They assigned me a local attorney who contacted me within one business day.
Yasin Gökalp was amazing!!! He not only ensured my power of attorney had all the necessary components but he also retrieved my bag from the airport and shipped it to my co-worker’s friend who was visiting Turkey from my same hometown in America.
I am so grateful to Yasin for his professionalism, guidance, patience and prompt service. This bag contained priceless possessions that were irreplaceable and held a special place in my heart.

Who Is This Service For?
Be Prepared...
- A valid passport and/or Turkish identification number are essential.
- The POA must be prepared with clear authority and responsibilities granted to the agent.
- For specific actions like divorce proceedings or property transactions, a photograph of the grantor must be included in the POA document.
Process: Our Approach
- Choosing a Representative: Select a trusted individual or lawyer in Turkey to act on your behalf. It's crucial to choose someone reliable and with the necessary legal knowledge or expertise. (Note: for representation in legal proceedings, a lawyer must be empowered).
- Drafting the POA: The POA must be drafted, specifying the powers granted. It can be done in Turkey or at a Turkish consulate abroad. The document needs to be clear on the scope of authority given.
- Legalisation Process: If the POA is prepared outside Turkey, it must be notarised and apostilled (or legalised by the Turkish Consulate if the country is not a party to The Hague Apostille Convention) to be valid in Turkey.
- Translation and Notarisation: If the POA is prepared by a local notary outside Turkey, it will need to be translated into Turkish by a sworn translator and notarised in Turkey or at a Turkish Consulate.
- Executing the Power of Attorney: Finally, the completed POA is used by the lawyer in order to be able to carry out the transaction on behalf of the client at the relevant Turkish authority or institution.
